Born in Ghana, West Africa, R.E.U.B arrived in the United States under political
asylum and was raised throughout much of the east coast, fromMaryland to New York. Though R.E.U.B may not speak his mother’s native tongue, his music definitely speaks the language of many. Most who first hear the rapper/producer compare his lyrical content and flow to artists such as Common and Little Brother. Listeners will also appreciate a style and diversity, as beautifully schizophrenic as hip-hop legends Nas or Tupac delivering equal parts of rawness, intelligence,
honesty, and just straight fun. Therefore, it is no surprise that everyone from hip-hop purists to industry insiders are beginning to take notice of this artist that chooses not to have a “rap name” but better suited to his business acumen and personality, an acronym based on his birth name: R.E.U.B ( Real Entrepreneur in the Underground Business of hip-hop). According to DJ Swift, “He will no doubt achieve the legendary status of KRS, Rakim, Tribe, De La, etc. because he’s real and he’s doing it right…fresh beats and on point lyrics.”

R.E.U.B lived up to his name with his 2004 debut album, Pair-a-dice by selling impressively for an independent artist with hardly any backing. In early 2008, R.E.U.B. released the remix album entitled “The Billboard Insurgence: R.E.mixed”, a verbal takeover of Billboard chart toppers with new concepts and a fresh
perspective. “I just wanted to show my fans and hiphop fans in general that hit music can be quality music. I don’t have to be underground to have something to say. I can actually take the most high profile/ mainstream songs out today, and make them even better. Hello, world. Ain't that what everybody's been saying since Wayne dropped the "Show Me What U Got" freestyle a year ago? Blah @ that. Anyway, I've been blessed to enough to do a guest blog on the New Lifee situational thingy-thing-thing. So first off, my name is Lyriciss, aka Lyriciss Flowz, aka The Voice Of The Metro aka The Hope aka Too Many aka's Will Make You Look Effin' Wack. I am a young hip-hop artist out of the DMV...DC metro area...DC, Maryland, and Virginia...the Middle East...however you want to say that, that's where I'm from. If you can't tell, my mind is a rambling one. That being said, I tried to think of a concept for the blog, then I figured, "well...if the blog is MY blog...it should be a rambling one that relates to me." That being said, I just read HipHopDX (Amanda Bassa, what up?), and they had their "WTFs" and all of that. So I'm going to steal that concept and ramble about 10 things that make me say "WTF". Cool? Cool. Bong.

1.) WTF at the multicolored skinny jeans. Well , on men. That goes for deep V-necks too, especially if you got more chest hair than Chuck Norris.

2.) WTF @ Gucci Mane. Rhymes, gold teeth, black skin x white lips, all of it. Just WTF.

3.) WTF @ my daughter getting her diaper changed and filling it back up in 2 minutes and 30 seconds.

4.) WTF @ this new Soulja Boy and Bow Wow song. And as usual in his career, Bow Wow is on the short end of this stick (pause, no homo, or whatever these young bammas are saying nowadays). How so? Soulja Boy is expected to make a song like that. Bow Wow, while expected to be wack...that was a new low for even him.

5.) WTF @ these police checkpoints in the city. Holocaust '08?

6.) WTF @ Bill O' Reilly. Dude...give it up. No one cares about your opinion. Aren't you the same pervert that sexually harasses female coworkers AND you're married? How the hell are you going to give criticism on sexual lyrics in hip-hop?

7.) WTF @ Fox News Channel. Fuck them. Nothing more to say on that.

8.) WTF @ Jesse Jackson. You're the black Bill O' Reilly. Fuck out of here and go back to chasing loose women, you false prophet.

9.) WTF @ sheepskin condoms. Never used them, but just the idea of it. Who sat down and said "yeah, sheepskin is proper material for a penis. Sure, it doesnt protect you from STDs and has a lower consistency on preventing pregnancy than conventional latex condoms, but hey, if you ever want a higher-risk condom, here it is!"

10.) WTF @ the terms "hipster rap" and "backpack rap". Damn, rappers can't just be fresh and be lyrically dope too? Bammas have to be straight A college students on honor roll to spit a little positivity? We're lost out here, joe.
